Sunshine And Speed: Radical's UK Championships Launch At Rockingham

The Competition Car Insurance Radical UK Cup and Quaife Radical Clubman’s Cup kicked off in style at Rockingham today, with fantastically clear conditions greeting competitors at the modern Corby circuit.

Testing commenced on the International Sports Car Circuit at 09:35 this morning. 34 Clubman’s Cup drivers and 18 UK Cup teams will be in action this weekend, as part of the Dunlop Great & British Motorsport Festival.

Amongst the drivers signed up at the last minute is Autosport Magazine’s Marcus Pye, sharing an SR8 this weekend with historic racing stalwart Simon Hadfield. Long-time European Masters professional driver Nigel Greensall also returns to the driver’s seat, in an SR3 with Julian Thomas.

This year, Radical also welcomes two established sportscars teams to the Radical racing arena. Motorbase Performance, better known for their exploits in the BTCC, are fielding rookie racer Chris Hillaby and Clive Biley in a news SR3 RS. Similarly, Moore Racing have switched from the British GT Championship to the Radical UK Cup, with an SR8 driven by Phil Keen and Mike Gardiner.

Testing takes place throughout today (Friday) with the Radical Clubman's Cup first on-track for qualifying tomorrow at 09:05. UK Cup qualifying commences at 09:55 tomorrow; to keep up to date with the latest times, visit the TSL Timing website here.
